Villagers block traffic in Haryana after firing

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: Irate villagers blocked traffic on the Bhiwani-Hansi Road on Sunday demanding action against the relative of a Deputy Superintendent of Police who reportedly opened fire on Saturday night which killed one teenager and seriously wounded another in village Jatu Lohari.

The blockade was lifted after hours with the intervention of senior district officers.

According to reports reaching the State Headquarters here, the relative of the police officer, who was driving a car, got out and reportedly opened fire indiscriminately in an apparent fit of rage after marriage revellers, who had virtually blocked the road, did not give way.

Three other persons were also said to be in the vehicle.

Case registered against four persons

Bhiwani Police have registered a case against Mukhtiar Singh, the relative of the DSP, and three others for the firing incident.

Sandeep, 15, was killed in the firing while injured Jitendra was initially rushed to the Bhiwani Civil Hospital from where he was referred to the PGI at Rohtak where his condition was stated to be critical.

Police impounded the car and have launched a hunt for the accused.
