Anniversary of three schools celebrated

The 105th anniversary of Sourashtra Higher Secondary School; 61st anniversary of Sourashtra Co-Educational Higher Secondary School; and 121st anniversary of Sourashtra Primary School were celebrated at Sourashtra Higher Secondary School. M. Kutralingam, Principal Secretary, School Education, distributed prizes to students for outstanding academic performance.

R. Pandurangan, Chief Educational Officer, and K. Thennarasu, Superintending Engineer, Tamil Nadu Police Housing Board, offered felicitations. A. K. Ramamoorthy, correspondent, presided. A. R. Jegannath, executive committee member, welcomed the gathering and G.P. Pandurangan, treasurer, proposed a vote of thanks. Bava. Maheswari, Headmistress, Sourashtra Primary School; B.R. T. S. Soundararajan, Headmaster, Sourashtra Higher Secondary School, read out annual reports.

The Gayathri Devi guide company was inaugurated at the Sourashtra Co-Educational Higher Secondary School by Mr. Ramamoorthy, who is also the State vice-president of Bharat Scouts and Guides. He took the salute at a ceremonial parade. The Headmaster, Mr. Arangaraman, welcomed the gathering.

The guide teacher, K.S. Shanthimai, proposed a vote of thanks.

Annual Day

The 28th Annual Day of Crown Matriculation Higher Secondary School was celebrated with a lecture on the status of education by R. Ravindran, secretary, Indian Medical Association (Madurai branch). V. Ravindranath, former Rotary District Governor, was the chief guest. The correspondent, M. Amanuallah, presided. The Principal, S. Moideen Amma, welcomed the gathering and Jaffer Sheriff, president, Parent-Teacher Association, proposed a vote of thanks.

Win medals at Nagercoil meet

Eleven students of Sri Aurobindo Mira Matriculation Higher Secondary School won several medals in the State-level fencing tournament held at Nagercoil in the first week of February. Three of them won gold medals. The winners and trainer Sivabalan were congratulated by the school chairman C. Chandran.

Bronze medal winner

An eighth standard student of Virudhunagar Hindu Nadar Higher Secondary School, V.Vinoth Kumar, won a bronze medal in fencing at the Republic Day sports competitions conducted in Nagercoil.

The 24th annual sports meet of Good Shepherd Matriculation Higher Secondary School was declared open by S. Kumaravel, Assistant Commissioner of Police. He also took salute at a march past of students. S. Thomas Christopher, correspondent, presided over the function. Theresa Christy Fairlie welcomed the gathering. Siranjeevi, Physical Education Teacher, presented the annual report. The students exhibited their talents in karate and yoga. Prabhakaran and T. Cruz Antony Pallo ti distributed prizes to the winners. Subashini proposed a vote of thanks.
