GURGAON: In a keenly-fought match, Punjab National Bank (PNB) defeated Namdhari XI through penalty shootout in the 5th Oriental Bank Maharaja Ranjit Singh hockey tournament at the Nehru Stadium here on Tuesday. PNB and Namdhari XI were tied 2-2 after the regulation time. Yudhveer Singh and Jatinder Saroha scored for PNB while Namdhari’s Gurmail Singh struck a brace. In the penalty shootout, Yudhveer, Navdeep Singh and Jalwinder Singh netted one goal apiece to help PNB win. Gurbhag Singh and Harmit Singh were the scorers for Namdhari XI. In another match, Punjab and Sind Bank (PSB) rode on Daler Singh’s lone goal to beat Army XI 1-0.
