KOCHI: A documentary on Kakkanadan can never be a linear narrative. Just like the man he is, the structure will be multi-directional. And that is what Biju Nettara has attempted to do in his film ‘Kakkanadan Our Own Babychayan’. This is Biju Nettara’s second film, the first one being ‘N.N. Pillai: The Dramatist.’ “Unlike the first film, the second one is an attempt to track the personality of Kakkanadan. The film follows no chronological order, nor is it an authentic document on Kakkanadan’s writings,” says the director. In about 80 minutes, the film meets the author, his friends and travels through the township of Kollam. “Even though he was not born there, Kollam is Kakkanadan’s home town. No narration about this author is complete without a mention about this town.” The film was a result of Biju’s acquaintance with the writer for nearly 15 years. It follows the vision that Kakkanadan has about himself. The film will be screened at Cochin Media School, near South Over Bridge, here on February 26 at 6 p.m. The screening will be followed by an interaction with the director.
