Tirupur: Members of Sri Lankan Tamils Pathukappu Iyakkam formed human chains in various parts of the city on Tuesday evening in order to protest against the ‘killing of innocent Tamils’ in Sri Lanka.

The movement, which has been constituted by various political parties and fringe groups, demanded an immediate ceasefire in Sri Lanka in order to put an end to the atrocities of Lankan armed forces against the civilian population.

Pressure

They urged the Central Government to come out with measures to apply pressure on the Sri Lankan Government to ensure that the ‘genocide’ taking place in the island nation was ended.
