4 held for salesgirl murder

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Four persons, including a woman, were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of a salesgirl in a super market in Royapuram here on February 15.

According to police sources, a special team formed to investigate the case followed specific clues and interrogated Muthukrishnan, watchman of the supermarket. The suspect revealed that the supermarket owner, Jawahar, had an illicit relationship with the victim, Anandhi (27).

Enraged by this, Jawahar’s wife Bhavani conspired with Muthukrishnan, Venkatesan and Harikrishnan to murder Anandhi. On Sunday, Harikrishnan murdered the woman while Muthukrishnan and Venkatesan stood outside the super market to ensure that nobody entered the premises.

The team arrested the four accused who were produced in a city court and remanded them to judicial custody.
