Karwar: The historic Mahabaleshwara temple in Gokarna which was in a state of neglect for centuries has seen phenomenal changes in the last six months after Sri Ramachandrapura Math took over its administration, former minister Cheluvaraya Swamy has said.

He was addressing a Dharmasabha at Gokarna on Thursday as part of Mahashivaratri Mahotsava. He said that dreams of achieving all-round development of the pilgrim centre were being realised, he said.

The “Sarvabhouma” award was presented to Sufi singer Ibrahim Sutara of Gulbarga on the occasion. Mr. Sutara thanked the temple committee for the honour, a press release from the temple committee said.
