Academy of Magic Sciences launches welfare scheme for magicians

Special correspondent

KOZHIKODE: A welfare scheme for magicians who need financial support has been launched by the Academy of Magic Sciences headed by Gopinath Muthukad.

Magicians’ children, who secure high marks in SSLC or equivalent examinations, would also be eligible for benefits under this welfare scheme, Mr. Muthukad said.

A financially backward magician would get free magic equipment worth Rs. 5,000 and the children of magicians would get an annual scholarship of Rs.2,500 for two years, he said.

Minister for Forests Benoy Viswom would distribute the benefits at a function to be held at Kozhikode Press Club February 21.

‘First scheme’

Mr. Muthukad said it would be the first welfare scheme in the world for magicians.
