Good day for Indians

New Delhi: Indian archers won 10 medals, including four gold, on the second day of the first Asian Grand Prix in Bangkok.

With the four gold, two silver and four bronze medals won on Friday, India’s medals tally in the five-day event which started on Thursday swelled to 15 (five gold, three silver and seven bronze).

Indian men’s trio of Rahul Banerjee, Atanu Das and Hemanta Basumatary were on target to clinch the yellow metal in the team event of 70m men’s recurve FITA round with 1975 points. Indian women — Renu Munda, Jhanu Hansda and Namita Yadav — bagged gold in the recurve team event.

The other two golds were won by the women’s compound team and Atanu Das in men’s recurve individual event.

The results (70m FITA round): Women’s recurve team: India 1895; Kazakhstan 1877; Japan 1860. Men’s recurve team: India 1975; Japan 1957; Malaysia 1898. Men’s compound team: Malaysia 2040; Vietnam 2028; India 2028. Women’s compound team: India 1997; Malaysia 1967; Myanmar 1912. Women’s recurve individual: Bannova (Kazakhstan) 648; Pranitha 647; Rimil Biruly 631. Men’s recurve individual: Atanu Das 662; Rahul Banerjee 664; Yamamoto Hiroshi (Japan) 661. Men’s compound individual: Hon Keomg Lang (Mal) 697; Ye Min Swe (Mym) 694; Arjun Rao (India) 689.
