Five killed in court shooting
Hathras (U.P.): In a broad daylight shooting, two undertrials were killed by three unidentified armed men on the district court premises here on Saturday, sparking a gun battle with the police which shot dead the trio.
The incident took place when Satveer and Kamlesh Yadav, both accused in a robbery and murder case, were being taken back to the jail after they were produced in the court, Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal said in Lucknow.
Citing old rivalry as one of the possible reasons behind the killing, he said efforts were being made to ascertain the identity of the assailants killed in the encounter.
Police said Satveer and Kamlesh were arrested in August last year and a case was registered at the Sikandara police station. — PTI
