Moma protection device introduced

NEW DELHI: Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre has introduced the “moma protection device” for smoothening the process of carotid intervention. Moma is a device that restricts blood clots from reaching the brain during the carotid stenting procedure, and hence making the procedure safer.

Dr. Atul Mathur, director of interventional cardiology at the Centre, said: “Usage of filters during carotid intervention had certain limitations. Moma protection device will facilitate performing the procedure on patients even with extreme blockages, making it exceptionally safe.”
