NEW DELHI: The second draw of lots for allotment of dairy plots at Ghogha Dairy Colony was held this past week in the presence of Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra and Municipal Corporation of Delhi Standing Committee chairman Vijender Gupta. According to the civic body, a total of 159 plots of 60 square metres and 171 plots of 96 square metres have been allotted to eligible dairy owners. The members of the allotment committee and observers from the Delhi Government, the New Delhi Municipal Council and the Delhi Development Authority were also present during the process of allotment of plots along with all eligible dairy owners who had been invited by the civic body to witness the draw. The draw of lots was conducted manually and slips containing the name of dairy owner and the number of plot allotted to the applicant were drawn from the box by the applicants themselves to maintain transparency in the draw. The allotment letters would be issued to the successful allottees by the MCD within two weeks. In order to deal with the problem of stray cattle in the city and to shift illegal dairies running in urbanised areas, a dairy colony at Ghogha has been developed by the civic body wherein 2,080 dairy plots would be made available in Phase-I and 1,920 plots would be developed in Phase-II. Earlier in June 2008, a draw of lots was held by the MCD for allotment of 304 dairy plots to eligible dairy owners at Ghogha Dairy Colony.
