Kurnool
KURNOOL: The five-day tour of Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi in Kurnool district served as a stimulant and confidence building exercise for the party mechanism. Chiranjeevi travelled 482 km by road and addressed meetings in 13 Assembly segments covering all except Mantralayam before concluding the tour at Yemmiganur on Sunday. The response was overwhelming to his road shows in the upland area of Kodumur, Pathikonda, Aluru and Adoni. Mr. Chiranjeevi and other party leaders expressed happiness over the large turnout at the meetings. Mr. Chiranjeevi told reporters at Aluru on Sunday that the main electoral fight would be between the Congress and the PRP in the State and exuded confidence that his party would emerge victorious. He refused to draw a parallel between his road shows and those of NTR saying the latter was a legend. Chiranjeevi had his own way of doing things, he said. Addressing the road show, Chiranjeevi made a scathing attack on the Jalayagnam exercise and asked people would perennially drought areas like Aluru and Pathikonda ever get water. More than Rs. 45,000 crore was spent and another Rs 1.70 lakh crore was required to complete the projects. Even then Aluru was not on the agenda of the government, he said. PR district convener Bhuma Nagireddy and his wife Sobha Nagireddy accompanied Chiranjeevi all along his tour of the district.
