Six-storeyed complex with a built up area of 1.47 lakh sq. feet will have shops, offices, restaurants Complex on right side of Haj House being built on the 3,800 sq feet of land acquired by the Board
Welcome model: Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, Minister for Minorities Welfare Mohammed Ali Shabbir and Minister for Backward Class Welfare M. Mukesh Goud having a look at the model of Garden View Wakf Mall in Nampally on Sunday. Hyderabad: A commercial complex will come up on the open piece of land on the right side of Haj House in Nampally. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy laid foundation for the Rs. 35 crore Garden View Mall on Sunday. The six-storeyed complex with a built up area of 1.47 lakh sq. feet will have 32 shops spread in three floors besides offices and restaurants on upper floors. MemorandumThe programme was marred by slogan shouting Wakf Board employees who boycotted the function. They wanted to present a memorandum highlighting their problems to the Chief Minister but the latter hardly stayed. Soon after unveiling the plaque he left the Haj House much to the surprise of the large number of people who had gathered there to listen to him. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Minorities Welfare, Mohd Ali Shabbir, said the commercial mall would result in good revenue to the Wakf Board. The money required for building the complex would be pooled from the Board’s resources and Wakf institutions. If necessary government would also provide financial assistance. The complex was being built on the 3,800 sq feet of land acquired by the Board for Rs. 20 crore. Government had waived the stamp duty of Rs. 2 crore needed for its registration. The 3555 sq. feet of open land on the left side of Haj House acquired from Deccan Motors would be kept vacant for accommodating Haj pilgrims, Mr. Shabbir said. He said the Rajashekhara Reddy government had created a history by taking back 50 acres of Dargah Hazrath Baba Sharfuddin land at Pahadi Shareef from APIIC and handing over the same to the Wakf Board. Its present value was Rs. 350 crore. This clearly proved the minority friendly attitude of the chief minister, Mr. Shabbir said. He said the steps taken by the government for welfare of minorities was being appreciated so much so that there was demand in other States to replicate the “YSR minority model”. Earlier, Iliyase Sait, chairman, Wakf Board, welcomed the gathering. Anjan Kumar Yadav, MP, Mukesh Gowd, B.C. Welfare Minister, Rahimuddin Ansari, chairman, Urdu Academy, were among those present on the occasion.
