Bangalore: Two persons, including a Bangladeshi national, who is said to have been overstaying, have been arrested on the charge of running a sex racket here on Saturday. The police said that four of their accomplices escaped. The police identified the accused as Rahima Begum (22), a native of Kali village in Narail district in Bangladesh, and Mahesh alias “Pimp” Mahesh (34), a resident of Krishnarajapuram here. Mahesh, a school dropout, was involved in the “flesh trade” for the last couple of years, according to the police.
Rahima, who came to the city as a tourist two years ago, had been staying in Krishnarajapuram though her visa expired in August 2008. Rahima served as a bar girl in several hotels, and had recently married Shakil, a resident of Krishnarajapuram, the police said.
Wilson Garden police said that Mahesh on Friday night brought five girls, including Rahima, with him near a hotel in Wilson Garden police limits. The sleuths of the Central Crime Branch intercepted the car following a tip-off, and arrested the two while four, Sangeether, Seety, Bishti and Pali, managed to escape, the police said. The police have confiscated a car, visa, passport, mobile phones, a diary containing the list of “customers” and other documents from the accused.
