17,800 teachers’ posts to be filled

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced that no approved posts of teachers under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan would be allowed to lapse at any level and asked the Education Department to approach the State Public Service Commission for filling up 17,800 posts of teachers lying vacant.

These vacancies include 10,000 posts of third grade and 7,800 of second grade teachers. Mr. Gehlot said at a high-level meeting here that a requisition for making the new appointments would be sent to the RPSC within the next three days.

The RPSC will also be requested to speed up appointments to 5,590 posts of second grade teachers and 2,190 of Sanskrit teachers, which have already been advertised.

The meeting was informed that over 70,000 appointments at various levels in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan had been made after the Education Department’s approval to fill up 28,000 posts of instructors through the district-level committees and 56,563 of teachers through the RPSC. The appointments to the remaining vacancies are now in progress.
