Forty-six U.S. musicians, members of the Little Orchestra, left New York in a chartered BOAC plane on February 22 for a two-month Asian tour during which they will give 36 concerts in 20 cities. Led by Mr. Thomas Scherman, they will visit India, Ceylon, Thailand, Viet Nam, Hong Kong, Formosa, Korea and Japan. Included in the company’s repertoire is an Indian-inspired symphony composed by Californian Henry Cowell dedicated to the Madras Music Academy, and due for its world premiere at the Little Orchestra’s first concert in Madras on March 3.
