Lending magical voice for a cause

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Veteran playback singer S.P. Balasubramaniam lent himself to yet another cause when he regaled an audience of 6,000 persons on Saturday evening at Church Park Presentation Convent on Anna Salai. The event was a fund-raising programme organised by the school’s parents-teachers association. The school is celebrating its centenary year and a series of programmes are being held to mark the event.

Saturday’s event was to raise funds for a building in the school, start an outreach programme and set up a school in a village near Chennai.

Actor Vijay was the chief guest and other well known faces spotted at the event included actors Nasser, Napoleon, Priya, Devayani, Radhika and the Saroja team. Lucky draws and exciting prizes were on offer. SPB was accompanied by his son Charan and a student of the school, Janani.

Alumna and television anchor Shilpa Menon, also sang a song with the singer.
