William S. Pinckney CHENNAI: Amway India Enterprises, a direct selling FMCG, posted a turnover of Rs. 1,128 crore for the fiscal 2007-08 against Rs. 800 crore, a growth of 40 per cent. Addressing presspersons here on Monday, William S. Pinckney, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, said the company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amway Corporation of the U.S., introduced a range of door opening products called great value products in 2008 that helped Amway break through the Rs. 1,000-crore barrier in 2008. The company was offering around 109 products in five categories — personal care, home care, nutrition and wellness, cosmetics and great value products. It had also made a foray into the energy drink segment. Outlining the plans for 2009, Mr. Pinckney said the company set a target of a 25 per cent growth and would focus on improving consumer access. Almost 85 per cent of the products sold by Amway India are now manufactured within the country through seven third party contract manufacturers. He said 2009 was a special year for Amway as it celebrates 50 years of successful business globally.
