Public examination venues get exemption from load shedding

TNEB goes all out to ensure smooth conduct of examinations in 5 districts

MADURAI: Schools in five southern districts under Madurai region of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) that are hosting public examinations have been exempted from load shedding.

The five districts are Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram.

According to TNEB sources, all efforts are being undertaken to ensure that the public examinations are not disrupted. Instructions to this effect were received from the Chennai head office.

The TNEB officials have also sought from the Chief Educational Officer the list of schools that would be hosting the examinations. Plus Two theory examinations are starting on March 2.

Exemptions were accorded to schools during the Plus Two public practical examinations which were held between February 9 and 20.

The school heads had, prior to the examinations, met the TNEB officials in their areas and sought exemption from the load shedding, sources said.

Exemption requests from schools for conducting examinations were being considered positively.

Outlining the modalities for according such exemption between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., the sources said that the load shedding was “regrouped” to some other time depending on the timing of the examinations.

The school officials have also been asked to arrange the timings accordingly.

Some technical measures were also being adopted to exempt the schools from load shedding, officials said.
