TIRUCHI: A total of 25,840 Plus two students in the district will appear for the public examinations from March 2 to 23 at 71 centres. Of them, 16,411 are in Tiruchi educational district, 4,338 in Lalgudi and 5,091 in Musiri. The number of examination centres are 43, 12 and 16 respectively. There will be seven examination centres for private candidates – four in Tiruchi, one in Lalgudi and two in Musiri. Chairing a meeting of District Examination Committee on Monday to take stock of the steps taken for the smooth conduct of the Plus Two public examinations and SSLC public examinations (from March 25 to April 8), Collector T. Soundiah said that armed policemen would guard 12 question paper custodian points – four in Tiruchi, three in Lalgudi and five in Musiri. Police protection will be provided to all examination centres also. Hundred flying squads have been formed to check malpractices, the Collector said, adding that squads from other districts will also pay surprise visits. Those found copying will be debarred for a maximum of three years. Seeking the fullest cooperation of students, teachers, parents and officials of Education department, the Collector said neither students nor invigilators would be permitted to carry mobile phones inside the examination halls. On the days of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Biology examinations, Anna University faculty would oversee the process, the Collector said. District Revenue Officer Srivenkatapriya, Chief Educational Officer K. Swaminathan, district educational officers and police officials participated.
