TIRUCHI: Institute for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (IECD) of Bharathidasan University is likely to increase the number of its nodal centres to facilitate students of affiliated colleges to take up skill-based electives and fulfil the credit requirements under the choice-based credit system. At present, there are eight nodal centres, one each in the eight central districts under the university’s jurisdiction. These centres will be of help to students of those colleges that do not have the facilities to offer skill-based electives. Students can pursue the certificate programmes at such nodal centres during week-ends or vacations and obtain the credits, according to Vice-Chancellor M. Ponnavaikko. On Monday, Prof. Ponnavaikko handed over certificates to 198 students who had completed the training programmes in Curriculum Vitae Designing and Interview Techniques at the Shrimati Indira Gandhi College (SIGC), the IECD’s nodal centre for Tiruchi district. He also inaugurated new certificate courses in Mobile / Cell Phone Servicing and Apparel Enrichment, in the presence of Principal K. Meena and Institute Director K. Parthasarathy. He released the course material for Mobile / Cell Phone Servicing on the occasion.
