Special Correspondent

VILLUPURAM: Collector R. Palanisamy has warned of penal action against students who indulge in malpractices during public examinations.

In a statement released here, he said that candidates having in their possession paper bits or printed books inside the examination hall would be debarred from writing examinations for one year.

The candidates who were found copying from bits of paper or from other students’ answer sheets would be debarred from writing examinations for two years.

The candidates who might take away the answer sheets of the fellow students for copying and those who might misbehave with invigilators during and after the examinations would be permanently debarred from examinations.

Criminal proceedings would also be initiated against those candidates.

Mr. Palanisamy further stated that if malpractices were detected in any school, penal action would be taken against the headmaster or headmistress concerned and the recognition of the school as an examination centre would be revoked.

Students of such a school would be attached to another school for the purpose of writing examinations. Students and invigilators were prohibited from carrying cell phones and pagers to the examination hall.

If they defy the order, criminal proceedings would be initiated against the them, the Collector added.
