CS writes to parties to name representatives Only Congress forwards names of two members HYDERABAD: A fortnight after Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy announced the decision to constitute a committee of members of both the Houses of Legislature to deliberate issues and concerns on formation of Telangana, the Congress has nominated two party MLAs as members. Consequent to separate communication sent by Chief Secretary P. Ramakant Reddy to leaders of major political parties having representation in the Assembly seeking names of two representatives, APCC president D. Srinivas is said to have nominated Kodad MLA N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Government Whip D. Sridhar Babu, who represents Manthani constituency in Karimnagar district, to the panel. While the major political parties particularly the grand alliance partners -- TDP, TRS and Left parties -- rejected the letters, only Congress came forward to name its members. Highly placed party sources confirmed to The Hindu that the APCC chief had received the letter written by the Chief Secretary five days ago. “Accordingly, the party president nominated two members after detailed discussions with the seniors as well as those in the government. A letter with the names of the two members has been sent back to the government,” a source pointed out. Suitable for jobSources said Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who is already heading the House Committee to study violation of GO 610, was most suitable to represent the panel. Similarly, Mr. Sridhar Babu was also named in the panel, as the party felt that he understood the issue with all clarity and would be in a position to give broad suggestions. Party leaders feel that the two representatives will not only air the concerns of the people of the region but also effectively give suggestions to resolve serious concerns that have been raised by the stakeholders.
