Loyola emerges triumphant

The Loyola College team that won the Vivekananda Trophy .

CHENNAI: Loyola defeated Vivekananda ‘A’ by 42 runs in the final of the RKM Vivekananda inter-collegiate cricket tournament here on Wednesday.

The scores (final): Loyola 186 in 46 overs (I.K. Rohit 48) bt Vivekananda ‘A’ 144 in 39 overs (Malolan Rangarajan 56).

Pachaiyappa’s advances

Pachaiyappa’s and Guru Nanak entered the semifinals of the Prof. Ramana inter-collegiate cricket tournament here on Wednesday.

Pachaiyappa’s defeated Hindustan by six wickets while Guru Nanak got the better of A.M. Jain by 40 runs.

The scores: Hindustan 190 for five in 30 overs (Venkatakrishnan 44) lost to Pachaiyappa’s 193 for four in 27.2 overs (Kevin Sugumar 65).

Guru Nanak 164 for nine in 30 overs (U. Sushil 48) bt A.M. Jain 124 for nine in 30 overs (Sridhar Raj 41).

RKM 146 in 30 overs (J. Kaushik four for 30) lost to SRM University 148 for six in 25.3 overs (Sreenivasan 57).

Loyola 191 for six in 30 overs (N. Einstein 74, Asif 54) bt SBMJ 97 in 22 overs.

Joseph scalps six

Joseph (six for 30) starred in Falcon CC’s seven-wicket win over Rising Stars in a third division ‘B’ zone match of the TNCA league here recently.

The scores: III ‘B’: Rising Stars 75 in 26.5 overs (Joseph six for 30) lost to Falcon 76 for three in 10.1 overs.

Bharathi SC 212 in 46.1 overs (C.K. Suresh 62, Palani 45, K.N. Delli Babu six for 101) bt Venkateswara 135 in 45.2 overs.

Jupiter 135 in 41 overs (Balaji four for 27) lost to Galaxy 138 for four in 40.4 overs (Anand 67, Aravind four for 39).
