Smelling a rat in GM food
KOCHI: The ‘I am no lab rat’ campaign against genetically-modified (GM) food and crops will be launched here on Friday. The campaign, spearheaded by the Coalition for a GM-free India, is aimed at mobilising public support to force the Centre to back down from allowing genetically-modified brinjal and other crops into India.
The coalition has urged the public to petition the Prime Minister and send e-mails to him saying, “We will not eat GM food.” The Kerala leg of the “I am not a lab rat” campaign will be launched at a meeting at Cochin University at 3 p.m. on Friday. — Special Correspondent
