Gulbarga
Learning: Students participating in a workshop held at Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School in Gulbarga on Thursday. GULBARGA: It was a classroom lecture with a difference. The teacher did not choose any subject from the textbooks but the 90-minute lecture was a judicious mix of humour, riddles and simple questions. The aim was to build confidence among the students for the examinations and to teach them stress management. Over 200 students, in preparations for the SSLC examination, listened in rapt attention to the lectures by the Hyderabad-based resource persons Sridevi and Padmaja at a workshop organised by The Hindu: Newspaper In Education at the newly constructed auditorium at Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School here on Thursday. Ms. Sridevi demonstrated several simple activities to improve students’ concentration. She told the students that reading newspapers regularly would help improve their language, grammar, and speaking and writing skills. Ms. Sridevi stressed the need for students to plan well while preparing for the examination. “You have around eight months to prepare for your final examination. Instead of rushing through the subjects at the fag end of this period, students should plan their schedule right from day one so that it will be easy for them.” Later, Ms. Padmaja, delivered a lecture to around 250 students studying in the 9th standard.
