Lawyers to boycott courts today

Correspondent

CUTTACK: Protesting against what they called “barbaric” action of the police against lawyers inside Madras High Court on February 19; Bar Council of Orissa has urged all the advocates of the State to boycott courts on Friday. As per the decision of the Bar Council of India, all advocates of the State would observe the day as ‘Black Day’ wearing black badges, said the State Bar Council president Gopal Krushna Mohanty.

Mohanty also informed that the advocates would stage dharna in front of their respective bars on Friday. “This decision has been taken while expressing our solidarity and sympathy for the lawyers of Madras High Court who were lathi-charged last Thursday”, Mohanty added.

The State Bar Council also echoing the feelings of other bar councils in the country has demanded a judicial probe into the February 19 police action .
