Plea to enforce senior citizens Act

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Senior Citizens Friends Welfare Association has urged the State government to take measures to enforce the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act passed by Parliament in 2007. In a memorandum submitted to the Finance Minister on Thursday, the association said the government should have set up tribunals to receive complaints of parents and senior citizens within six months from the date of commencement of the Act.
