EVMs checked

NAGAPATTINAM: A team of officials and staff from the Bharath Electronics Corporation, Bangalore, have started checking the electronic voting machines (EVMs) here since Thursday.

Collector M. Jayaraman, on Thursday, inspected the EVMs at the Collectorate here.

The Collector said that all the EVMs of the six Assembly segments of Sirkazhi, Mayiladuturai, Nagapattinam, Poompuhar, Kilvelur and Vedaranyam in the district were being checked thoroughly as these EVMs had to be used for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls in the district.

He pointed out that the EVMs would be sent to the respective taluk and block development offices for conducting poll-related meetings with officials shortly.
