Migration worries Yeddyurappa

BANGALORE: “My aim is that people from villages should not come to Bangalore and should continue to live in peace in villages. We will ensure that all basic facilities required will be provided to them,” said Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.

He was inaugurating Rs. 150 crore development projects in Hebbal Assembly Cnstituency here on Thursday.

The Chief Minister said that if the rural areas were not provided with the basic facilities, then Bangalore would be overburdened with migrants. Already Bangalore was overpopulated, he said and added that there should not be any slums in the city. He said that development was the priority of the Government and it was giving importance to all the 28 Assembly constituencies in Bangalore. Development works had been taken up and work was in progress in 2008-09. He said Rs. 700 crore had been allocated for Bangalore Development Authority and Rs. 300 crore for Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike.

Meanwhile, Mr. Yeddyyurappa stressed the need to “preserve” the educated youth in the country and utilise their talent so that they did not migrate to other countries.

Earlier, Minister for Excise and IT BT Katta Subramanaya Naidu spoke.
