By-poll to local bodies peaceful

VILLUPURAM: The by-elections to 15 seats in local bodies went off peacefully in Villupuram district on Saturday.

On an average 67 per cent votes polled, and, the counting would begin at 8 a.m. on March 2 in the respective places.

There are two contestants for the Chairman post in the Panchayat Union and the Kallanatham Panchayat Unions .

Polling was also held for the following Panchayat wards: Siruvanthadu, Kanniyam, Peral, Pudhupattu, Thagadi, Thurinjipattu, Koovanur, Sithalingamadam, Ulagapuram, Thottapadi, Ammaiagaram, Keezhaiyur and S.Pettai.
