“State keen on developing e-governance initiative”

CHENNAI: The State government is keen on developing its e-governance initiative and bridge the rural-urban divide, Santosh Babu, managing director, ELCOT, said here on Saturday.
Along with these developments, students from rural and non-urban colleges should develop a positive idea and compete with the best, he said, while delivering the chief guest’s address at the valedictory function of Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) IT talent event iTalent.
Ravi J. Shah, chairman iTalent 2009, said that the event had consistently received participation from regional and suburban colleges. This year, 200 students from 44 colleges participated, with 30 presentations being made at the final two-day event.
The first prize and cash award of Rs. 30,000 was bagged by Model Engineering College, Cochin, the second prize by Meenakshi Sundararajan College, Chennai, and the third prize by BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore.
