SASTRA V-C wants degrees regularised
Thanjavur: Welcoming the Supreme Court order that M.A. degrees without basic degree given by open universities will become invalidated in terms of provisions of the University Grants Commission Act, R. Sethuraman, Vice-Chancellor of the SASTRA University here has appealed to the State government to take up the matter with the Centre for regularising the degrees.
In a release, he said regularisation could be done by regularising the degrees issued either by suitably granting relaxation to the regulations or promulgating an ordinance validating the degrees. Nearly 2.50 lakh candidates may be affected by this invalidation and they may be in jobs.
Such an ordinance was promulgated to validate more than one lakh B.Ed degrees in West Bengal. — Special Correspondent
