Air India holds Mumbai FC

MUMBAI: Air India fought back via a header from Emmanuel Ovieghara (64th minute) to force a 1-1 draw with Mumbai FC in the ONGC I-League 17th round tie between two Mumbai teams at the Cooperage.

Kalia Kulothungan had nodded in the first goal of the match in the 39th minute.

MFC (24 points) could have won had Felix Abogaye finished off chances created by Abhishek Yadav and Uttam Singh.

Air India upped the points tally to 19.

Kulothungan headed in a curling cross from the right by Abogaye for MFC.

Ovieghara equalised after Michael Tayo relayed the ball to him, the Air India striker beat a defensive challenge and nodded over goalkeeper Amit Singha Roy.

Chances were created at both ends, Yadav gave Air India goalkeeper Arup Debnath a scare with a header downwards off a centre from Abel Hammond, the ball flew wide of the post. — Special Correspondent
