Chetan bows out, Indian campaign ends
New Delhi: Indian shuttler Chetan Anand squandered a first game lead to go down against China’s Weijie Gong, bringing down the curtains on India’s campaign at the Yonex German Open Grand Prix badminton tournament.
Second-seed Chetan played his heart out in the 53-minute quarterfinal battle but could not get past his fancied rival and lost 21-19, 19-21, 12-21 to bow out of the tournament on Friday. Indian mixed doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and V. Diju failed to put up a fight against Chinese duo of Bo Zheng and Jin Ma, losing 17-21, 12-21 in the quarterfinals. — PTI
