Curb tempers, facilitate peaceful campaign: LSP
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan appealed to all political parties, civil society organisations and media to curb inflamed tempers in the wake of untimely death of an MRPS activist and facilitate peaceful conduct of election campaign and public debate.
Expressing regret over the distressing incident as a result of arson at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr. Jayaprakash Narayan said even traditional political parties were guilty of fostering violence and allowing issues like categorisation of reservation fester for decades in furtherance of their votebank politics.
He also said that as 60 years of reservations did not improve the plight of millions of poor among the oppressed classes, LSP had come out with a four-point formula to extend reservations only to the deserving poor among the reserved categories and exclude children of creamy layers within these classes.
By extending reservations only to those who completed schooling, the onus would be on government to provide quality education to every child for 12 years in both private and public schools. This would eventually lead to a casteless society and put an end to discrimination.
