Dhaka seeks FBI help

Haroon Habib

DHAKA: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has told Parliament the government had sought the FBI help in investigating the rebellion at the BDR headquarters during February 25-26. She said she would also seek the help of Scotland Yard and the United Nations.

Ms. Hasina said she had already talked to U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher and sought FBI help to trace the culprits behind the “planned” attacks.

Ms. Hasina said the general amnesty which was granted to BDR soldiers would not cover those involved in killing and other criminal acts during the rebellion.
