dated March 3, 1959: Role of youth

Prime Minister Nehru, addressing the students of the Lucknow University on March 2, called upon the youth of the country to face the problems of the fast-changing world with courage and determination. Mr. Nehru said, “During the period of studentship you are to equip yourself for the role you are to play in the world drama, and your fundamentals should be so sound that you may not falter on the stage.” Mr. Nehru said that the entire phase of the world had changed on account of the tremendous scientific and technological progress. He said in India too a great industrial revolution was being brought about. “The youth of the country should prepare themselves to play a vital role in this revolution.”
