The centre will be set up on the Civil Station premises ‘The mediation centre functioning at the High Court has been a success’ THRISSUR: A Mediation Centre will be set up on the Civil Station premises here. Justice Cyriac Joseph, Supreme Court judge, will inaugurate the centre on Saturday. District Judge B. Kemal Pasha announced this at a press conference here on Tuesday. A panel of 55 mediators will handle cases at the centre. TrainingFormer judicial officers above the rank of District and Sessions Judge and lawyers with a minimum experience of 15 years will be trained to become mediators. “A mediation centre has been functioning successfully in the High Court. The new centre in Thrissur is expected to bring down the number of cases pending disposal,” Mr. Pasha said. Justice Pius Kuriakose, High Court judge, will preside over the function. High Court judges Justice A.K. Basheer and S. Siri Jagan; Chief Judicial Magistrate T.K. Madhu; C.K. Chandrappan, MP; Therambil Ramakrishnan, MLA; Mayor R. Bindu; District Collector V.K. Baby; District Government Pleader P.K. Pushpangadan; Bar Association president C.K. Saji Narayanan; and Advocate Clerks’ Association president K.R. Soman are expected to attend the function. Land for courtRevenue Minister K.P. Rajendran will hand over land for the proposed court complex.
