SHIMOGA: S. Sheshadri, an advocate and journalist, who had filed a private complaint at the Judicial Magistrate First Class court here seeking a fresh inquiry into the “mysterious” circumstances leading to the death of Maithradevi, wife of Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, filed another application on February 28 in the same court requesting the sitting judge of the JMFC, M.S. Kankini, to hand over the case to the CBI for further inquiry. The court, which heard the case on Monday, posted for orders on March 7. It may be recalled that Mr. Seshadri, who had filed a private complaint in the same court seeking the reopening of the case, had cited Mr. Yeddyurappa as the main accused. The judge who heard the case had ordered the Doddapet Police Station here to hold an inquiry into the complaint and file the FIR to the court before March 30. In his new application, Mr. Sheshadri sought the advancement of the case from March 30 to February 28. He also sought the CBI probe in the matter as he had apprehensions that the investigating officer was likely to act in a partisan manner. He also pointed out that the frequent transfer of officials in the police station was likely to delay the investigation. He said there had been a delay in filing the FIR to the court on the order made by the court for a fresh inquiry into the matter. ‘No action’He pointed out that no information had been furnished to the court by the police officer concerned even one month after the order was passed. “On the other hand, series of actions are being taken either to scuttle or dodge the investigation in every possible manner,” he said. TransferredHe added that the police sub inspector and the circle inspector of the Doddapet Police Station here were transferred. Application He said that the accused had tried to prevent the supply of information regarding the names and designation of the police personnel deputed at the residence of the accused no.1 [Mr. Yeddyurappa] in October 2004 (when he was the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly) even after he filed an application at the office of the superintendent of police under the provisions of the Right to Information Act seeking the necessary information.
