Bhanusri all set to become Nellore Mayor

Staff Reporter

NELLORE: Congress Mayoral candidate Nandimandalam Bhanusri secured a majority of 29 votes in the Municipal Corporation election held here on Tuesday.

But the officials did not announce the results as the High Court directed them not to give the results till the final hearing.

Dethroned mayor Pulimi Shailaja Reddy had earlier filed a petition in the High Court challenging the government’s action and the court asked the government to maintain status quo on removal of Ms. Reddy.

Out of a strength of 50 in the council and six ex-officio members, 42 corporators and five ex-officio members attended the voting process.
