dated March 4, 1959: Pandit Narahari Sastri

Pandit Narahari Shastri, Panda of Badrinath, who died on February 22 at Devaprayag, was a great Sanskrit scholar, eminent religious leader and social reformer of Uttarakhand “Himalayas”. He conducted extensive researches on Valmiki Ramayana and is the author of the Mahakavya in Hindi, “Nar Narayan.” He established a Sanskirt College at Devaprayag.
