Crucial MRPS meet on March 6

HYDERABAD: A crucial meeting of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) on March 6 will witness the office-bearers taking a political stand in the run up to the general elections next month.

MRPS founder president Manda Krishna told reporters here on Tuesday that they have decided to ensure the defeat of the Congress party in the coming elections.

“After making us believe its word that sub-categorisation of the Scheduled Castes would take place, they have cheated us,” he said. “MRPS is not going to keep quiet. We will teach the party a fitting lesson. We do not mind backing a party that is committed to sub-categorisation,” he said. His remarks assume significance in wake of the death of an MRPS activist Surendra in the aftermath of an abortive bid to set fire to Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress party headquarters on February 27.
