Attack on police station: six DYFI activists held

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Six activists of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) who were accused of attacking the Peoorkada police station on February 18 and of attempting to free some arrested persons were apprehended on Tuesday by a police team led by Circle Inspector Asokan.

A press note issued here said Anil Kumar, 23, second accused; Ajikumar, 32, fifth accused; Malin, 22, sixth accused; Saidas, seventh accused; Sunil Kumar, 30, eighth accused; and Ajith Kumar, 20, ninth accused, were absconding after the incident.

Another person in this group, Sukesh, who attacked and injured some policemen at the station, was arrested at the time of the incident by Mr. Asokan.

The group attacked the police station when the Circle Inspector was questioning some persons who were arrested in connection with another case.
