Bomb threat: one held

KOCHI: The City Police on Tuesday took into custody a person for making a threat that a bomb had been planted inside the Kerala High Court building.
The call, made by K.S. Muralidharan Nair, 38, came to the reception board of the court around 12.15 p.m. The caller, who identified himself as a member of the People’s War Group, said the bomb would go off at 2 p.m.
The police were immediately alerted and by the time the court broke for lunch, the entire building was cordoned off.
The bomb squad was pressed into service. After the premises were inspected, the call was confirmed as a hoax, the court resumed functioning after the lunch break.
The shadow force led by Shamsu Illikkal, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Special Branch, tracked the call based on the mobile tower through which the call was made and narrowed down on the accused by 4 p.m.
He was later handed over to the Ernakulam Town Central Police for investigation.
