Cheating case: police begin probe

KOCHI: Kalamassery police have started investigating into the case related to cheating people after promising jobs abroad. The main accused in the case Gilbert, 54, and his wife Sadhana, 44, surrendered before the Aluva court on Monday. The police took the couple into custody for four days for investigations.
Till date, the police have got more than 100 complaints about the couple, who allegedly promised postings in European countries like Finland, Belgium and Holland for nurses and hospital porters.
Candidates cheated
The couple collected Rs.50,000 directly after issuing receipts and asked the candidates to remit remaining amount to a bank account in Thailand. The couple is learnt to have collected Rs. 3 lakh to 4 lakh from candidates.
