Award for AU professor

The National Mineral Award 2007 was presented to a senior professor of Andhra University’s Department of Geology, Nandipati Subba Rao, at a function held in New Delhi recently. Prof. Subba Rao received a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh along with a certificate and citation from Union Minister of Mines Sis Ram Ola, for his research contribution in the field of earth sciences. He was among the 17 scientists to receive the award. By using remote sensing techniques, Prof. Subba Rao developed a groundwater potential index, which is useful in delineation of groundwater resources in hard rock areas.
