St. Joseph’s triumphs
CHENNAI: St. Joseph’s Engineering College lifted the Dr. KCG Verghese memorial trophy after winning the women’s volleyball final beating NIMS late on Monday in the K.C. Tech inter-collegiate tournament being organised by the KCG College of Technology in association with Hindustan Sports Foundation.
The winning team earned prize money of Rs. 15,000 and the runner up Rs. 12,000.
SRM Eswari Engineering College finished third defeating host K.C Tech.
In tennis, Aarthi Duraisamy and Sudharsan Varadharajan won the men’s and women’s singles titles. Aarthi of MOP Vaishnav College defeated Lekha Chandrashekar of Ethiraj college 6-3, 6-3 while Sudharsan of College of Engineering beat R. Parivel of St.Joseph’s 7-5, 3-6, 6-2.
Hockey Olympian V. Baskaran and SDAT Member Secretary, Sudeep Jain gave away the prizes.

Tennis: Men: third place: Md Nihas (Loyola) bt Prabhu Raj (K.C. Tech) 10-3; semifinals: R. Parivel bt D. Prabhu raj 6-0, 6-3; Sudharsan Varadharajan bt Mohd. Nizas 6-4, 6-2; Women: third place: J. Grace Hannah (St. Joseph’s) bt P. Regina Selvi (SSN Engg) 10-1.
Volleyball: women: semifinal: NIMS bt KC Tech 25-12, 25-18; St. Joseph bt SRM Eswari 25-13, 25-12.
