Special officer drafted to oversee electoral list Election code of conduct comes into force MYSORE: The voters’ list will be revised and updated till April 9 for the Lok Sabha elections slated for April 30. Deputy Commissioner P. Manivannan, who is also the district election officer, told presspersons here on Wednesday that a special officer had been drafted for overseeing the electoral list and arrangements had been made to issue Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) at Voters’ Facilitation Centre at the Town Hall (for Chamaraja and Krishnaraja Assembly segments), Bal Bhavan (Narasimharaja), Agricultural Marketing Research Institute opposite B.M. Hospital (Chamundeshwari) and Old Taluk Office near Srikantesheshwara temple at Nanjangud (Varuna) in the district. These centres would function till March 31 and registered voters whose names were in the electoral rolls may avail of the opportunity to obtain EPIC. Such voters, who had been issued EPIC in the past, but had misplaced or lost it, may avail of the opportunity and get a new EPIC on payment of Rs. 25, Mr. Manivannan said. Meanwhile, the election code of conduct has come into force and the Deputy Commissioner has appealed to all political parties and independent candidates not to breach or violate it. Mysore parliamentary constituency comprises the Assembly segments of Chamaraja, Narasimharaja, Krishnaraja, Chamundeshwari, Hunsur and Periyapatana in Mysore district apart from Madikere and Virajpet in Kodagu. There are 1,729 polling booths and 15,76,467 voters as of now. Following the delimitation of constituencies, Nanjangud, H.D.Kote, Varuna and T.Narsipura Assembly segments, which are in Mysore district, come under the ambit of Chamarajanagar parliamentary constituency, while K.R. Nagar comes under Mandya parliamentary constituency. The authorities said the EPIC coverage in Mysore parliamentary constituency was 66.02 per cent. Of the 15.76 lakh voters, EPIC had been issued to 10.03 lakh voters. The rest would be covered during the drive that would conclude on March 31. While the highest coverage of EPIC was in Periyapatana, where 86.24 per cent of the total voters (1,30,271 voters of the 1,50,867) had been issued EPIC, while the lowest coverage was in Narasimharaja segment, where only 45.30 per cent of the voters had been covered (96,042 of the 2,12,023 voters). The EPIC coverage in other Assembly segments: Hunsur (83.24 per cent ), Chamundeshwari (70.26), Hunsur (83.25), Krishnaraja (55.57), Chamaraja (43.84) Virajpet (73.10) and Madikere (74.10).
